I am very happy with this lovely photo from a summer mermaid! Thank you Merel!
Just for fun I have make a fabric design, based on my picture book ‘The mermaid’s shoes’. I hope you like it. You can see more lovely fabrics with mermaids on the site of Spoonflower, or make a fabric design yourself!
Tom Schamp is an illustrator who’s work I really admire. I had the chance to meet him during the Dutch Children’s Book Festival and I asked him to sign one of his books for me…and look, he didn’t only sign it but also drew me a mermaid !
It was a lot of fun making my own tableware . I decorated it with mermaids, jellyfish and seahorses. Now all I need to do is put it in the ceramic oven.
On the 22nd of June the beginning of summer was celebrated with the annual
Mermaids Parade on Coney Island. I would have loved to go there!
I was at the opening of a Mermaids show in the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, a town on the Dutch coast. There were beautiful mermaids from all over the world !
Off course I was very proud that my app ‘The Mermaid’s Shoes’, was part of the exhibition.
While on research for my latest book on Curaçao, a carribean island that’s part of the Dutch kingdom, I saw this big freighter sail into he harbor. It had such a wonderful name, I had to take a picture of it.
